A volunteer project ran from 2014 to 2019 to create a First World War Roll of Honour for Barnsley. Barnsley Remembers WW1

The Barnsley War Memorials Project website has been renamed Barnsley & District War Memorials and still has its content online. It eventually produced the above Roll of Honour, despite struggling with a lack of funding.  Although it was suggested that the Project would wind down at the end of 2019, with its main aim having been achieved the website was taken over by two ex-members of the Committee of the BWMP in November 2020. It continues to be updated.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records the burials and commemoration of anyone who lost their lives due to the First and Second World Wars.

There is a searchable online Roll of Honour here for members of the Armed Forces who died in military service on or after 1 January 1948 (and Palestine 1945-1947).
